World Hepatitis Day

Image
World Hepatitis Day, observed on July 28 every year, aims to raise global awareness of hepatitis — a group of infectious diseases known as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E — and encourage prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.  The date of 28 July was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus.  Worldwide, 290 million people are living with viral hepatitis unaware. Without finding the undiagnosed and linking them to care, millions will continue to suffer, and lives will be lost. This year’s theme- “Find the Missing Millions” aims to raise awareness about hepatitis to find the missing millions and take action.

People who use wheelchairs for daily mobility may transfer in and out of their wheelchair up to 20 times per day. Frequent transfers can put stress on a person’s upper body over time. Previous research has shown that improper transfer techniques, such as placing the wheelchair at the wrong angle or not removing or dropping armrests, can lead to wrist or shoulder injuries and pain. Training on proper transfer techniques may help wheelchair users reduce those injuries. Someone correctly said- "Never stop learning because life never stops teaching". Hence BCIP is determined to make sure that their students are learning in this crucial time also. Due to  globalisation, climate change  and scarcity of raw materials, people are adopting sustainable lifestyle choices and using paper bags is one of them.
